When i picked up today's Sunday Times, i was amazed by the headlines "BJP attacks 'Christian' Chaplin", What a **** was my immediate reaction. Of all the issues in the world, they could find something to make an issue off.
We have seen that the politicians are using religion to bake their own bread. And particularly, BJP has always been successful in coming up with issues of 'Hindutva ' during the election days. ( I need not comment more on this)
Some people fall prey to their game while others simply curse/blame the politicians. Most of the religious riots are started by some people who have their vested interest but its only the common man who suffers.
Now calling Charlie Chaplin as Christian and that it will hurt the Hindu sentiments, i don't think that most Hindu's while enjoying Charlie Chaplin's play would have ever thought that he is christian and in any way he has hurt anyone's sentiment. It is one of the wildest thing that one can think, but our politicians are good at it.
Now the election is in air, we will see more things like this coming up. But it is upto us not to let somebody rule us with these nonsense.

I agree with what you write....however i would like tp take your concern forward and bring forth an aspect that the polarized parties are overlooking....
While they may think that such issues will help them garner votes, it can turn against them as well. If a supporter of BJP is an artiste, then that supporter is sure to move away from such a skewed approach...and there the vote bank shrinks even more....
